For the Muhamasheen people in Yemen, owning land is especially difficult because of long-standing discrimination and social exclusion. They are often denied legal recognition and face deep-rooted prejudice that limits their access to property rights enjoyed by other groups. Many Muhamasheen families live in informal settlements on land they do not legally own, making them vulnerable to eviction and preventing them from building stable livelihoods. Poverty, lack of official documentation, and limited access to legal support further block their ability to purchase or register land. As a result, land ownership remains out of reach for most Muhamasheen, reinforcing cycles of marginalization and insecurity across generations.
